"Inspired by my geologist husband's rock collection, my "Geodes and Crystal Caves" series explores the disparity of the inner and outer experience. Rough on the outside yet beautiful on the inside, geodes are like small encapsulated worlds. These quilts exhort us to look below the surface for buried truth."
Geode IV $500 2001 Kim H. Ritter, photo by the artist dye and paint on cotton and silk, block printing, shibori, machine applique and quilting
Caught in Crystal $5000 Frozen inside, and unable to move, Traveling with "Masterpieces: A Voyage of Self Discovery"
Out of the Box $2750 Silk, paint, block printing, machine piecing and quilting Out of the Box was inspired by a trip to the prehistoric passage grave at Newgrange, Ireland. Passage graves fascinate me because they represent prehistoric man’s struggle to explain the passage of the soul to a new plane of existence .
