Things can appear smooth on the surface, but there is always something hidden below. This quilt is part of a series examining water currents as a metaphor for human emotions. This quilt is the first in an exploration with a new technique in which the piece is quilted initially in an extemporaneous fashion, the lines of quilting are covered with resist and silk dye is applied in the final step. This quilt was exhibited in the 1999 juried exhibition Quilter’s Heritage Quilt Festival in Lancaster, PA.
